Flagship features for a lower price
AI is becoming the next big trend with processors, and chip manufacturers are working on bringing AI processing oomph to their current processors. Here at MWC 2018, MediaTek unveiled its AI-powered chip with the Helio P60, and rival Qualcomm does not want to get left behind by introducing the Snapdragon 700.
The new processor brings the best of the Snapdragon 800 series and Snapdragon 600 series: While it is a chip that is designed for midrange phones, the Snapdragon 700 does come with AI Engine and Spectra image processing–two features found on the flagship Snapdragon 845. Other features of the Snapdragon 700 include support for Bluetooth 5.0 and Quick Charge 4.0, and new Kryo cores that make them as much as 30% more power-efficient than the Snapdragon 660.
Availability of the Snapdragon 700 is expected by the second half of 2018.
