Two new budget phones under the Rio lineup
MyPhone is adding new phones to its already diverse Rio and Rio 2 lineup. The company yesterday officially revealed the Rio Fun 3G and the Rio 2 Fun. While there’s nothing too surprising about the Rio Fun 3G (it’s obviously a 3G equipped version of their Rio Fun released last year) the Rio 2 Fun is interesting because it seems to bear the same specs (sans a few tweaks) compared to their Rio 2 smartphone.
Rio Fun 3G specs
- 1.3Ghz dual-core processor
- 512MB of RAM
- 5-inch display
- 5-megapixel rear camera
- VGA front camera
- 4GB of storage, expandable
- Dual SIM
- 3G
- WiFi
- Android 4.4 KitKat
Rio 2 Fun specs
- 1.3GHz quad-core processor
- 1GB of RAM
- 5-inch IPS display
- 5-megapixel rear camera
- 5-megapixel front camera
- 8GB of storage
- Dual SIM
- 3G
- WiFi
- Android 5.0 Lollipop
The Rio 2 Fun has the same processor and RAM as the Rio 2 which is priced considerably higher. You’re (probably) getting a downgraded resolution (and no Gorilla Glass protection) with the 5-inch IPS display of the Rio 2 Fun, as well as a lower resolution camera but all things considered, that’s not such a big loss.
The Rio Fun 3G is priced at Php 2999, while the Rio 2 Fun is priced at Php 3,499.
