The new exploit can hack almost any Android phone that runs Chrome

Security researchers have uncovered a new exploit in Chrome for Android that’s capable of taking over your phone with one shot. Speaking at the PacSec conference in Tokyo a few days ago, Quihoo 360 researcher Guang Gong demonstrated the new vulnerability that allows hackers to take over your phone with ease. The vulnerability affects versions of Android running the latest Chrome browser.

While vulnerabilities and exploits are nothing new in the world of Android, the impressive (and frigthening) thing with the new exploit is the ease it’s able to take over your phone. Usually hackers have to exploit several vulnerabilities on your phone to be able to completely control of it, which takes a lot of time and effort. Guang’s new exploit is able to do it via a single expliot, targeting the JavaScript V8 engine.

With the exploit, Guang managed to install a simple BMX bike game into the phone without any user interaction quite easily. Obviously if the vulnerability is left unpatched and hackers manage to find said vulnerability, you can bet that they won’t be installing harmless BMX games in your phone.

Google is now aware of the issue and are scrambling to get a fix ready for the problem.
