Internals: The F5’s Mediatek processor is worth talking about

We have talked a lot about the Snapdragon 625 processor found in the Moto G5s Plus, and we are quite impressed with it. That does not stop us from talking about the MediaTek MT6763 processor found in the F5: Aside from being newer than the Snapdragon 625, the MT6763 has a faster clock speed at 2.5GHz. We will be reviewing the F5 further to see the performance of the MT6763 processor, so stay tuned.

As for the RAM and Internal storage, both the Moto G5s Plus and F5 have the same configuration at 4GB and 32GB respectively.

Display: 18:9 display or higher PPI?

While the F5 may win here as it has a 6-inch 18:9 Full HD+ display, it is worth noting that the Moto G5s Plus has a higher Pixel per inch (PPI) count with its 5.5-inch Full HD display. For this department, it is a matter of preference on whether you want skinny bezels or a screen with a high pixel density.

Cameras: Still debatable

On paper, the Moto G5s trumps over the F5 by using an RGB+Monochrome setup for its dual 13-megapixel rear cameras. While the F5 offers a single rear camera, that module has a f/1.8 aperture, which is 0.2 brighter than the one found on the Moto G5s Plus dual rear snappers.

On the front, the F5 is a winner with its selfie-centric 20-megapixel f/2.0 camera that boasts of a Selfie AI feature. We will be taking several photos using the F5 to see if its cameras are as good (or better) than those found on the Moto G5s Plus.

Battery: F5 wins this department

No questions asked, as the F5 has a bigger battery at 3200mAh, which is 200mAh bigger than the one found on the Moto G5s Plus. While the smaller battery on the Moto G5s Plus lasted us for a day based on our review, we have to see if the F5’s bigger battery will yield the same result.

Verdict: Quite a tough call

Just like our comparison of the F5 with the Nova 2i, it is pretty tough to choose between the F5 and the Moto G5s Plus. While it is priced Php 1k more expensive than the Moto G5s Plus, the F5 offers an interesting set of features, from its newer MediaTek processor to the Selfie AI feature for its front camera. We will be putting the F5 to the test to see if it is a bang-for-buck phone in the competitive mid-range segment.
