New Sony Flagship Phone Spotted in Leak

New Sony Flagship Phone Spotted in Leak

This is the Xperia XZ1

Is this the Bezel-less Xperia Phone we are all waiting for?

It has been said many times: Sony has to update its design DNA for its Xperia Smartphones, as chunky bezels are a thing of the past, and that 18:9 displays is the way to go. It turns out, Sony might be answering our pleas for a bezel-less Xperia, based on recent leaks.

Codenamed H8541, the upcoming Xperia smartphone sports a 5.7-inch 4K HDR display. Judging by the screen size, this is more or less an 18:9 display, as Sony normally used 5.5-inch displays on most of its Xperia smartphones. Despite the change in screen aspect ratio, the upcoming Xperia smartphone keeps its IP65/68 rating, which is definitely a good thing.

As for internals, it’s safe to say that this is a flagship phone, as it will have a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB storage, along with a 3420mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. On top of that, the H8541 comes with Android Oreo out of the box, along with USB Type C.

As to why it is using a Snapdragon 835 processor instead of the upcoming Snapdragon 845 processor, this is our guess: The leaks stated that the H8541 will launch during Mobile World Congress in February 2018. Because of the time period, the Snapdragon 845 is not yet ready for use in smartphones other than Samsung, which will be using the SoC with the Galaxy S9/S9+.
