New Xiaomi Phone spotted in GeekBench

Rumored to be the Redmi 6A

With Xiaomi releasing several phones this year–from the Mi MIX 2S, Redmi Note 5, to the Black Shark gaming phone, the Chinese company is still on a roll–this time with an upcoming entry-level offering.

Carrying the codename Cereus, this upcoming Xiaomi sports a yet-unknown MediaTek MT6765 processor, paired with 3GB of RAM. The new MediaTek chip has a 2.0Ghz clock speed and is reported to be manufactured using the 12nm process. This should indicate that this upcoming Xiaomi phone will have a modern and power-efficient chip. On top of the reported internals, the Cereus will come with Android 8.1 out of the box.

According to reports, the Cereus is said to be the Redmi 6A—the successor to the entry-level Redmi 5A. If the specs are a good indicator, the Redmi 6A will be a major upgrade over the Redmi 5A.
