We don’t even know why you need this much zoom in your camera
While point-and-shoots are essentially dead, there’s still something about prosumer cameras that tickle our fancy. Unbound by the requirements to make them pocketable shooters, manufacturers are free to experiment on them and try new things. Nikon did exactly that with their P900 a camera that has an astounding 83x of optical zoom. That’s equivalent to 2000mm in SLRs, which means it’s capable of zooming up to objects as far as 2000 meters or around 2KM (probably).
If you want to see just how scary the zoom of this camera is, just take a look at the video demonstration above. As the video zooms out, just imagine how far that tractor is to the location of the person doing the recording. Frankly, that level of zoom is pretty impressive, and to be quite honest, a little bit scary. If you’re the sort of person who likes a camera that can zoom in more than a kilometer, then hey, this camera is for you.
Just tell us when you’re in our neck of the woods, okay? So we can close the blinds, just in case.
