Meet the Nokia Lumia 610 - the best looking Php10,000 phone

Meet the Nokia Lumia 610… and yes she’s gorgeous

I know there’s a lot of buzz going for the Nokia Lumia 710, Lumia 800, and Lumia 900 but the Lumia that caught my attention the most is the entry level Nokia Lumia 610. I was able to spend a few minutes with this device during the Smart Nokia Lumia launch party and I was shocked how good it was especially if you consider the price. According to Nokia representatives, the Nokia Lumia 610 (which runs on Windows Phone 7.5) will sell for around Php10,000. Well ladies and gents believe me when I say that this is the best looking Php10,000 smartphone you’ll ever find in the market. In the aesthetics department this device looks easily twice it’s price. Add to that the fact that Windows Phone 7.5 runs smoothly on it and you have a pretty dependable, great-looking, and feature packed budget smartphone!

To get a better appreciation of the Nokia Lumia 610, check out this short video of our hands-on time with it during the Smart Nokia Lumia 710 launch party.

Let’s quickly go over the specifications.

Nokia Lumia 610 Spec Sheet

  • Single Core 800Mhz Processor
  • 256MB RAM
  • 3.7-inch display with 480×800 pixels (~252 ppi)
  • 8GB Storage
  • HSDPA (Up to 7.2Mbps)
  • OS: Windows Phone 7.5
  • 1300 mAh battery
  • 3MP Camera with Auto-Focus

From our initial testing the Windows Phone 7.5 experience on these specs is actually good. This came as a major surprise to me since I wasn’t too hot on the 800MHz single-core processor and the 256MB RAM. We’ll confirm this when we get to spend more time with the device once we get our hands on a review unit.

There are a few things missing though with this phone. You don’t have a front-facing camera and there’s no micro-SD card slot so you’ll have to make the most of your 8GB internal storage. If those things aren’t deal breakers then you might want to put this in your gadget checklist next month.

I think at this point I’m pretty much convinced already that Windows Phones, especially those coming from Nokia, have huge potential. Nokia has done a superb job so far in coming up with the hardware. I just hope that Microsoft follows through by getting more apps in their marketplace, especially the bigger names like Instagram, Temple Run, and Draw Something. They’ve already optimized the OS now it’s time to bring in the developers.

Lumia 610, 710, 800, and 900

We’re definitely biting the bullet on the Lumia 610. As soon as it becomes available we’ll shell out the 10k and get one. If you’re unsure about the Windows Phone experience then this is the best opportunity to try it out!
