Nokia Lumia 710 Hands-on

Coming to the Philippines really soon... the Nokia Lumia 710!

Nokia Lumia 710

The Nokia Lumia 710 is the smaller brother of the Nokia Lumia 800. It has relatively lower specs, different hardware design, and a more affordable price tag. Just like the Lumia 800 though it runs Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7.5 operating system. There’s no confirmation yet that it’s coming to the Philippines but it looks like we’ll be able to see it soon? Why do we say this? Because we just had a hands-on with an actual unit a few hours ago. The phone even was taged as a demo unit and had a “not for sale” label imprinted on the casing!

Hardware Design

The major difference between this and the Lumia 800 is really the hardware design. This isn’t made out of one block of polycarbonate material. The Lumia 710 still feels solid in your hand though and it’s actually still a looker. That, and the lower specs, is the price we pay to be able to get this at a cheaper price. There’s no official SRP yet but when it first debuted in the gray market, the Lumia 710 was being solid in the Php17,000-Php19,000 price range.

There are three physical buttons below the 3.7-inch display. These are the standard menu controls for Windows Phones.
At the back you'll find the 5MP camera and the Nokia logo. It has a matte finish giving it better grip. Feels solid in your hand.
The Lumia 710 is not as thin as the Lumia 800 but it's not bulky. Measurements: 119 x 62.4 x 12.5 mm, 81.1

What amazes me is how fluid and smooth Windows Phone 7.5 Mango is on the phone despite the lower specs. This doesn’t have a dual-core processor and has 512MB RAM but there is no noticeable lag or delay in the transitions. You really have to give it up for Microsoft for their software!

The Lumia 710 coming to the Philippines soon?

The Nokia Lumia 710 is definitely on it’s way to the Philippines soon. Let’s just wait for the official announcement. We’ll just update this article once we get all the details like pricing and from which Telco you can get it from.
