Amazon launches new Kindle line-up
A few days ago Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos took the stage in a press conference to take the wraps off the new line-up of Amazon Kindles. The updated roster features the Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Fire HD, and Kindle Fire HD 8.9. What’s so special about these products?
The Kindle Paperwhite, other than being ridiculously affordable, features a new kind of technology that makes it feel like you’re reading on white paper that doesn’t cause eye strain even if you’re in dark places. It also features bumps in specs making it faster and smoother.
The Kindle Fire HD comes in two displays, 8.9-inch and 7-inch. Amazon says that both screens offer 25% less glare compared to the Apple iPad because of how they used two sheets of glass, LCD, Touch Sensor, and an air gap which lets lets the light reflect off the LCD. When it comes to the parts under the hood, the 8.9 Kindle Fire HD packs a 1.5Ghz dual-core OMAP4 4470 processor with the latest Imagination SGX544 graphics engine. This is “supposedly better” than the Nvidia Tegra 3.
The press conference speech of Bezos as well as the official promotional videos for the Kindle Fire HD and the Paperwhite were recently uploaded on Youtube and we’ve embedded/posted links to them below.

For some weird reason Amazon didn’t allow embedding of their promotional video for the Kindle Fire HD. You can click this link to watch it on Youtube though.
I’m not yet sold on the Kindle Fire HD but the Paperwhite looks very promising! We’ll try to get one and give a full review.
