OPPO Debuts Quad Rear Camera Equipped, Video-Centric Reno2 series

With a plethora of features aimed towards vloggers

OPPO expands the Reno line with the unveiling of the Reno2 series. This new lineup boasts of quad rear cameras and is geared towards budding videographers with its image stabilization features. To emphasize the Reno2’s video capabilities, OPPO partnered with Facebook for seamless sharing of videos through Instagram.

The Reno2’s main feature is its quad-rear camera comprising of a 48-megapixel F/1.7 Sony IMX 586 main camera, 13-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto camera, 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and 2-megapixel portrait lens. The Reno2 comes with 2x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom, and up to 20x digital zoom. OPPO improved the software algorithm on the Reno2 to for new features such as Ultra Dark Mode, HDR Portrait, and Portrait Bokeh.

Beyond photography, OPPO optimized the Reno2’s arsenal of cameras for better videos with both optical image stabilization and software-based Ultra Steady Mode. Both methods are part of the Reno2’s hybrid image stabilization feature. Being a video-centric phone, the Reno2 can natively shoot Full HD videos at 60FPS.

While the Reno2 will have a sharkfin pop-up rear camera, the Reno 2Z and Reno 2F will have a more conventional center-mounted pop-up rear camera. Other differences include an Helio P70 processor and 48-megapixel Samsung GM1 main camera for the Reno 2F and an Helio P90 processor and 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 main camera (without OIS) for the Reno 2Z. Both the Reno 2Z and 2F swap the Reno2’s telephoto camera for another depth sensor.

The Reno2 is priced at Rs 36,990(~Php 27k) while the Reno 2Z is priced at Rs 29,990(~Php 21.9k). The Reno2 will be available on September 20, while the Reno 2Z will be available on September 6. The Reno 2F, on the other hand, will be available in November.
