OPPO Kicks Off 5G Landing Project with Qualcomm and Carrier Partners

This is the future

After revealing its 5G-powered Find X prototype, OPPO kicks off its 5G initiative with partnerships from Qualcomm and Ericsson. Part of its 5G efforts includes the unveiling of the world’s first commercial 5G mobile platform: a Snapdragon 855 processor paired with Qualcomm’s X50 5G modem.

This is a welcome development to OPPO’s efforts, which includes successfully testing the first successful 5G video call and the first set of successful 5G network connectivity tests.

At their press conference in MWC 2019, OPPO detailed on the different possibilities with 5G that include cloud gaming, 3D VR projection video call, and AR Shopping. For its first 5G smartphone, OPPO unveiled a new variant of the Find X—the same phone that was previewed last January.

As part of the 5G landing project, OPPO has partnered with carriers like Optus, Telstra, Swisscom, and Singtel to bring its first 5G smartphone to consumers.
