#Overkill: ASUS Announces Zenfone 2 Deluxe 256GB Special Edition

Wowza.
Wowza.

Talk About Overkill

If you thought ASUS was done announcing new Zenfone variants, you’re in for a surprise. They just announced what could be the “OVERKILL of the YEAR” with a special edition of the Zenfone 2 Deluxe in Brazil. This variant basically has the same specifications as the ASUS Zenfone 2 and the special back cover of the Deluxe, however it will rock a whopping 256GB of internal storage. Huwaaaaaaat?! 256GB. That’s…. crazy. Makes the 32GB storage of the Galaxy Note 5 look like a chump, haha!

ASUS Zenfone 2 Deluxe Special Edition Spec Sheet

  • 64-bit Intel Atom 2.3GHz Z3580 quad-core processor
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 5.5-inch full HD IPS display with Gorilla Glass 3, 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • 256GB of storage… EH DI WOW. IKAW NA!!!!
  • 13-megapixel rear camera, f/2.0-aperture, 5-element, auto-focus lens with dual-color Real Tone flash
  • 5-megapixel front camera, f/2.0-aperture, wide-angle 85-degree lens with Selfie Panorama
  • Dual SIM
  • 3G, LTE
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, NFC
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop with ZenUI
  • 3000mAh battery
  • SRP: TBA

The Deluxe Special Edition will also come with two colored back cases that you can check out in the photo above. The default case though looks like some sort of carbon fiber-type design. We’re not sure if it’s actually made of Carbon Fiber or if it just simulates the material.

There’s no word yet if this will ever reach the Philippines as it was announced specifically for Brazil.

  1. My notes here.

    1. 256 jiggabytes = Too much custom ROM storage.
    2. 256 jiggabytes = RAW image friendly.
    3. 256 jiggabytes + 128 microSD = even more custom ROMs and RAW images!!!

    1. If only Intel could optimize the power consumption of their Intel Atom for smartphones there’s no need for a bigger battery anymore.

As much as I hated you before. a 4GB RAM, 256 GB ROM and 5000 mah of battery is a good combo and Asus may take my money for as long as they want if they could do that.

I’m looking for a phone that could replace both my OnePlus One and Nexus 6. Now if only Google could get Asus to manufacture the next Nexus smartphone…

  4. puwede ba mag-install ng Windows 10 Pro diyan? langya, mas mataas pa specs niyan kesa sa notebook ko a! hehe 😛

  5. Gawin sana 6000mah batt hehehe, big storage but everyone knows zf2 batt life is horrible. My 64g zf2 bilis maubusan ng batt even on stand by.
I hope upgrade to lollipop 5.1 does the fix

  6. Sana nag-improve din sa battery. Bakit kasi kinakalimutan ang battery. Ano silbi ng specs nyan kung low batt. Ang hassle mag charge ng cellphone at saka powerbank. Utak naman please, Asus.

    1. Better blame Intel for that. Intel may have mastered how to optimize the power consumption of their desktop and laptop processors but their smartphone processor architecture still needs some work on power optimization.

Intel’s smartphone processors are usually based from the architecture of lower-end Intel Atoms found on budget laptops and that may play a part on why their Atoms for smartphones still hog some ridiculous amount of power.

  7. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Income_inequality_in_Brazil

Well since Brazil is a country known for their overkill taxes (that burdens even the rich people), better expect the price of this phone to skyrocket if you’re going to buy this phone there. If Asus wants this phone to sell well in Brazil, they should just come up with a local factory there similar to what Sony did to bring down the SRP of their PS3s.

  8. laki nman rom nyan..256gb for a phone..gaano kya kadami pictures at music maikakarga jan.hehe.. pwede din panghakot ng apps sa playstore..

  9. If ever na gawing available to sa PH, ay jusme. Pagiipunan ko talaga to kahit gaano kamahal to. Time to give my beloved Zenfone 5 a break. Hahaha. (Tbh, I think kulang pa din sakin to’ng 256GB na to. ??)
