President Duterte Rocks an Apple Watch in Interview

It’s always good to keep up with current events in and around Metro Manila plus the rest of the world. We happen to be watching President Duterte’s live interview with the CEO of Rappler, Maria Ressa; with a title like, The Wartime President, who wouldn’t be hooked into watching it, right? In the interview, they touched on topics, such as: the war against drugs, foreign policy, and other important issues. We do realize a lot of you are opposed to reading or watching anything Rappler related (and don’t worry, we aren’t partnered with them at all), but it really was a great talk that you guys should catch.  As the camera was trained at our President, however, we couldn’t help but notice the discernible piece of tech he had on his wrist — an Apple Watch.

While we know it isn’t big news or anything particularly groundbreaking, allow us to geek out on the fact that our nation’s Commander-In-Chief rocks a wearable from time to time other than his selection of watches we’re used to see him wearing in public addresses and other interviews. We also can’t help but wonder what apps the President may have on his Apple Watch. Is he using it as a fitness tracker and getting ready for his New Year’s resolution? Could he be a fan of Pokemon Go? Is there an app specifically made for the President of a nation?

We really don’t know, but we definitely think it’s cool that the President has tech game.

  1. Probably a gift to him. He’s been seen wearing expensive-ass watches. While I don’t see anything wrong with it, I think it contradicts this perception that he lives a simple life (Monggo diet, humble house in Davao, etc.)

  2. I doubt he even knows half of what his timepiece can do. Maybe it gives him reminders when he has to take his Fentanyl doses? Sana nag-Fitbit na lang sya, mas angkop pa.

      1. Say what you want, dutertard, but I am not going to engage you in a debate for two reasons: debating implies one must have brains (which you certainly lack), and stooping down to your idiotic level will just put me in a disadvantage as you are far more experienced in being one.
