Qualcomm Introduces First 7nm SoC for PCs

It also comes with support for 5G

Aside from the Snapdragon 855 mobile processor, Qualcomm introduced a PC version of its 7nm processor with the Snapdragon 8CX. Dubbed as the “Most Extreme Snapdragon Ever”, the Snapdragon 8CX uses a Kyro 495 octa-core CPU and an Adreno 680 GPU to handle heavy loads.

Qualcomm claims that the Snapdarong 8CX offers 2x better overall graphics performance compared to the Snapdragon 850 PC processor, and can support two 4K displays simultaneously. Like the Snapdragon 855 mobile processor, the Snapdragon 8CX PC processor is 5G ready with its Snapdragon X24 LTE model.

Other features include a Spectra 390 image signal processor, USB 3.1 with Quick Charge 4+ support, Bluetooth 5.0, Qualcomm Aqstic audio technology for Hi-Res Bluetooth audio, and GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo, QZSS, and SBAS satellite systems.

The new processor is expected to power Windows laptops and tablets, and will become commercially available in Q3 of 2019.
