The new tech is even faster than ever before

Qualcomm has officially introduced QuickCharge 4+, a refinement of its already existing QuickCharge 4.0 Standard. The gist of it is that QuickCharge 4+ can charge devices up to 15% faster, is 30% more efficient and is 3 degrees Celcius cooler than QuickCharge 4.0.

Thermal issues is something that’s usually difficult to manage when you’re charging a device so quickly, so Qualcomm employs an intelligent Thermal Balancing system that uses the less used charging pathway to keep temperatures in the chipset down.

While the chipsets that have been announced to support QuickCharge 4.0 can support QuickCharge 4+, it’s not just a software update – manufacturers will need to build-in hardware to their devices if they want to use the fast charging standard with their phones.
