Redmi Launching Their Own 64-Megapixel Smartphone This Month

August will be a month of high-definition snappers

UPDATE: Redmi will be launching their 64-megapixel smartphone on August 7, a day before Realme’s launch, as confirmed by a teaser poster.

While Realme is expected to show off their rumored 64-megapixel camera phone this month, fellow Chinese brand Redmi isn’t letting them hog the limelight. Tipster Ice Universe says that Redmi will also be launching their own 64-megapixel camera powerhouse, which will directly compete with the offering of the former OPPO sub-brand.

Both brands will likely make use of Samsung’s new ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor, capable of producing 16-megapixel images in low-light after Pixel Binning, or 64-megapixel images when there’s plenty of light available (and you just want to fill up your phone’s storage faster).

August is starting to become the month for high-resolution smartphones, and we can’t wait to see what Redmi and Realme have in store.
