Rumor Mill: Is it Goodbye for Sony’s Years-Old OmniBalance Design?

A possible bezel-less Xperia in the future?

Admit it guys: As much as we love Sony’s OmniBalance design, it is really, really dated considering they have been using the same design philosophy since the Xperia Z back in 2014. However, that will change come 2018, if this rumor is to be believed.

According to an industry insider, Sony will be changing its design concept in time for Mobile World Congress in 2018. Carrying the codename “Mirai”, the new design concept name is Japanese for “future”, which means Sony will be doing a radical redesign for its Xperia line.

Does this mean Sony will be doing a full-screen smartphone? While we can’t confirm that just yet, what we know is that one of the first phones to carry the new design will be the Xperia X Ultra: A phablet rumored to sport a 6.45-inch UltraWide display with an aspect ratio of 21:9. Rumored features of the Xperia X Ultra include a Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB of RAM, 19-megapixel rear camera, 13-megapixel front camera, an IP68 chassis, and a 3,050mAh battery with support for fast charging.

What do you think of this rumor? Will this excite Sony fans? Comment down below!
