Rumor: Snapdragon 855 in the Works

It is codenamed Hana V1.0

While we are all waiting for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, which is said to be manufactured on a 10nm process, word is spreading that the San Diego-based company is also developing the Snapdragon 855 chipset, if a certain George Fang is to be believed.

Based on his LinkedIn profile, George Fang is a software engineer for Qualcomm, and notes that he is currently developing/debugging the latest Snapdragon chipsets, which include both the Snapdragon 845 and Snapdragon 855. Codenamed Hana V1.0, the Snapdragon 855 is rumored to be manufactured using a 7nm process by TSMC–a first for Qualcomm. A leakster from China revealed some details about this upcoming processor:

Among the features the Snapdragon 855 will have include improved support for under-display fingerprint scanners, improved AI capabilities, and better power efficiency. Target launch for the Snapdrsgon 855 will be on the 4th quarter of 2018, and will power Samsung’s 2019 flagship phones.

While the rumors about the Snapdragon 855 is interesting, do take these with a pinch of salt, as Qualcomm has yet to introduce the Snapdragon 845.
