One of the biggest, and fastest, monitors out there
Samsung has announced two products under its Odyssey gaming line today, which includes the absolutely gigantic 49-inch G9 and more sedate 32-inch and 27-inch G7 gaming monitors. The G9 is arguably the top-of-the-line product in the company’s gaming monitor range, with Samsung proclaiming it to be the first, dual quad high-definition display (DQHD; 5120×1440 resolution) with a 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, a massive 32:9 aspect ratio and a curved display with a 1000R curve and 1000 cd/m2 peak brightness.
The monitor uses Samsung’s Quantum dot technology combined with a HDR1000 VA panel to produce vibrant colors while retaining fast response times, though from what we gather this monitor will be stupid expensive when it hits the market.
The more practical G7 monitors will have the same response time and refresh rate as their gargantuan sibling, though in smaller 32-inch and 27-inch models. Resolution is Quad-High Definition (QHD; 2560×1440 resolution), with the monitor sporting a regular 16:9 aspect ratio.
No word yet on how much these monitors will be if they hit our shores.
