According to TechCrunch, Samsung is hatching “something big” for their upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship series. After the costly fiasco that was the Note 7 disaster, not to mention the recent debacle with their washing machines, Samsung definitely needs game-changing innovation to bring them back in the tech spotlight as a reliable brand. Apparently, an AI assistant is part of the solution, if new rumors are to be believed.

Online rumor mills currently have the Galaxy S8 packing a cutting-edge Exynos 8895 capable of 3.0GHz clocks, dual rear cameras, and a crazy UHD display with the now-fashionable 2.5D curved glass edge-to-edge design.

Now, based on Samsung’s earlier acquisition of “Viv”, a virtual assistant designed by the guys behind Siri, it seems that the company is innovating towards artificial intelligence. Details are still scarce on Samsung’s concrete plans, but the company has already confirmed third-party support for their upcoming AI.

“Developers can attach and upload services to our agent,” a Samsung VP commented to Reuters.
