Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) was announced alongside the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear. This was a bit of a surprise since there were no leaks about it that surfaced online prior to the event. The device is definitely worth a closer look since there’s really no solid competition yet in the 10-inch premium Android tablet market for the Sony Xperia Tablet Z.
The new Galaxy Note 10.1 sports pretty impressive specifications as well as the same leather treatment that the Galaxy Note 3 got. Let’s quickly go over the major features to get a better idea if this is for you.
It has the same “leather” back
Probably in response to all the criticisms about the usage of just plastic materials for their devices, Samsung went out on a limb and went for a faux leather back cover with their two new Galaxy Notes — including the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. There’s also some sort of stitching design on the sides to make it look like it’s a notebook of sorts. While we haven’t had any hands-on with it yet we’re definitely excited to test it out since this will be Samsung’s first non 100% plastic flagship and we want to see how it stacks up agains the Xperia Tablet Z in the looks and aesthetics department.
Same S Pen Innovations with the Galaxy Note 3
The Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition also received all the S Pen updates that the Galaxy Note 3 got like Air Command. This nifty feature is a potentially a breakthrough navigation UI that really integrates the S Pen into the over-all natural experience, something that the previous Note generations didn’t really have. If you want to read more about Air Command, check out our Galaxy Note 3 post here.
Also the Note 10.1 will have a new design of Twitter app available that will be exclusive for 10.1 inch tablets. Samsung also added content apps for tablets like news apps and a sketchbook app for painting and sketching.
It has monstrous specifications
First up the display. We get a 10.1-inch screen with awesome resolution of 2560×1600 (roughly 299 pixels per inch). It also runs on the crazy powerful 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor (LTE variants) while the 3G/WiFi models have the 1.9GHz Octacore Exynos processor. Powering the new Note 10.1 is a big 8,220mAh battery which should be able to last you the whole day.
