Samsung is churning out so many products these days to the point that it’s actually becoming difficult to monitor all the releases! It’s barely been a couple of months since the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus were announced and now we have a new tablet called the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. What’s the selling point of this refreshed device? Two things: Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and an affordable price tag of $250 (roughly Php13,000-Php14,000).

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Spec Sheet

  • Dual-core 1 GHz CPU
  • 1GB RAM, 8GB/16GB/32GB storage, expandable with microSD up to 64GB
  • HSDPA, 21 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps (HSPA+)
  • 7.0-inch Screen, 600 x 1024 pixels (~170 ppi)
  • 3.15-megapixel camera, 2048×1536 pixels
  • Records 1080p video @ 30fps
  • OS: Android 4.0 ICS
  • Standard battery, Li-Ion 4000 mAh

Based on the initial reviews we’ve read there’s a significant improvement because of the Android 4.0 ICS upgrade. The transitions, animations, and other aspects of the graphic user interface are all better which gives a superior user experience. The only downside really is that Android still has only a few apps specifically made for tablets. Most of the time you just get enlarged smartphone apps (which sometimes look terrible on tablets).

If you think about it though it’s still a pretty compelling offer. Php13,000-Php14,000 for a 7-inch Android ICS tablet from Samsung? I’m sure a lot of people will go for this one especially here in the Philippines.
