Samsung announces Galaxy Tab 8.9 for the Philippines
Samsung Philippines just announced the official entry of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 to the Philippines. The 10.1 Galaxy Tab has actually been in the market for quite some time now. In fact it was offered already by SMART in one of their postpaid plan bundles. The 8.9 is a smaller version but it still packs a lot of the features and power of it’s bigger brother. The main selling point of this version is that it’s lighter and easier to carry around versus the 10.1 models. It will be interesting to see how this model does in the local market.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 packs a 1GHz dual-core processor, 3MP camera, and WiFi. The 3G model isn’t available yet. It runs on Android 3.0.
So how much is it? The 16GB model will retail for Php27,490 while the 32GB model will sell for Php32,490. It’s more expensive than the widely popular Apple iPad 2 which is a bit perplexing for me. Will probably wait for the price to go down before I consider this in my Holiday Gadget Shopping List.
