Samsung has Big Claims for its upcoming Exynos 9810 Processor

Among which include major investment moves

This year, major tech brands have been focusing on creating dedicated processors for handling specific tasks. Huawei has its Neural Processing Unit to give the Kirin 970 AI abilities. Google has their Pixel Visual Core to take care of all image processing tasks on their Pixel 2 smartphones. Apple, on the other hand, has made the A11 Bionic so powerful, it can match even this year’s MacBook Pros.

Now we ask Samsung: What do they have in store? Aside from rumors that the upcoming Exynos 9810—the processor that will supposedly power the Galaxy S9—will not just have its own Neural Processing Unit, but also a Face ID-like 3D Scanning kit. Such features are not farfetched: Recently, Samsung has invested on DeePhi Tech, a Chinese-based tech company that focuses on AI technology. While the company may not ring a bell to you, it has bagged clients like Amazon, MediaTek, and Samsung for its expertise with neural network chipset architecture.

In addition, Qualcomm has released a software kit for a Snapdragon Neural Processing Engine this summer. So whatever Samsung plans to put inside the Exynos 9810, one thing is for sure: They aim to outdo their rivals in improving on current AI technology.
