Samsung is serious about making a comeback
After getting mobbed by affordable smartphones made by its Chinese rivals for years, Samsung has taken the kid gloves off and is fighting back. The Korean juggernaut recently launched the oft-leaked Galaxy M10 and M20, two smartphones that have excellent spec to price ratios that’ll even make diehard Xiaomi fans take a second look.
Despite making fun of Apple for introducing notched phones, both of Samsung’s new devices have a notch in front – a small, water drop one that’s barely there, but a notch nonetheless. Both phones also have dual-cameras, and in the case of the M20, the largest battery in a Samsung phone to date, along with their latest Exynos processor.
The 6.3-inch Galaxy M20 has a full HD display, Samsung’s Exynos 7904 octa-core processor, a choice of either 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB of storage, as well as dual cameras that sport a 13-megapixel f/1.9 primary sensor and 5-megapixel f/2.2 wide-angle secondary camera with PDAF. The battery comes in at a whopping 5000mAh.
The Galaxy M10 has a smaller 6.22-inch HD+ display, armed with Samsung’s 7870 octa-core processor, either 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of storage. Rear cameras are made up of a 13-megapixel f/1.9 primary shooter and 5-megapixel f/2.2 wide-angle rear camera with PDAF.
Both phones made their debut in India, where they’ll do battle with the offerings of affordable brands like Xiaomi and Realme. And for the first time, Samsung has a chance of winning the hearts and minds of people in the sub-continent: the Galaxy M20 is priced at a mere Rs 10,990, or around Php 8.2k for the 3GB/32GB model, with the higher tier 4GB/64GB coming in at just Rs 12,990 or Php 9.6K.
As for the lower spec Galaxy M10, its price isn’t too shabby either – Galaxy M10 is priced at Rs 7,990 or around Php 6K for the 2GB/16GB model, while the 3GB/32GB variant is priced at Rs 8,990 or Php 6.7K.
