Samsung Officially Unveils Exynos 9810 Chipset

Will support AI and enhanced multimedia features

After silently announcing the Exynos 9810 a few months back, Samsung has revealed more details about the flagship chip, which will be used in the global versions of the Galaxy S9 and S9+.

Aside from what was initially revealed, the Exynos 9810 has a brand new octa-core chip design, with four power cores that can reach up to 2.9Ghz, along with four cores optimized for efficiency. Samsung claims that the Exynos 9810 is 40% more efficient in multi-core costs compared to the Exynos 8895, but we have to wait for formal benchmarks for the Exynos 9810.

As expected, the Exynos 9810 will boast of AI capabilities, which include neural network-based deep learning, which will help the chip in identifying people and objects through fast searching. In addition, it can identify a user’s face in 3D by using depth-sensing tech, which sounds similar to Apple’s FaceID tech.

As for graphics, the Exynos 9810’s ARM Mali-G72 GPUs promises up to 20% better performance compared to its predecessor and will support 10-bit HEVC (high-efficiency video coding) and VP9 codecs. In addition, the updated codecs on the Exynos 9810 makes it capable to support UHD video recording of up to 120FPS, along with improved stabilization for photo and video and better low light performance.

Samsung will formally launch the Exynos 9810 at CES 2018.
