Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Camera Launched in the Philippine Market!

Samsung launched two of their latest devices in the Philippines today: the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy Camera. Both devices were just announced globally during IFA 2012 in Germany around 2 months ago and they are actually the first wave of Samsung gadgets packing Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box (sweet!). Anyway, just like the international unveiling, Samsung Philippines went all out with their preparations for the media/trade launch event. Hundreds of reporters, bloggers, dealers, and partners trooped to the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Hotel for one of the most glamorous and epic products launches for 2012.

Before we go on to the event, here are the technical specifications of both devices:

  • 2GB RAM
  • 16 / 32 / 64GB Internal Storage, expandable via micro SD
  • 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD Display, 1,280 x 720 pixels (~267ppi)
  • 8-megapixel Camera, LED Flash, 1080p Video Recording
  • HSPA+ and LTE
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
  • 3,100mAh Battery

  • New S Pen Features and Applications

Samsung Galaxy Camera

  • 1.4Ghz Quad-core Processor
  • WiFi, 3G, and 4G (with SMS messaging, no calls)
  • microSD Storage
  • Micro SIM Cards only
  • 4.8-inch HD LCD Display, 1280×720 pixels (~308 ppi)
  • 16-megapixel backside-illuminated sensor, 21x optical zoom
  • Smart Pro Camera Features
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Between the two devices, we actually spent more time playing around with the Galaxy Camera. It’s definitely a novel idea but only time will tell if it’s actually a good buy. There are a lot of things to consider, especially the potential battery life.

Event Coverage

Stage with giant LED background

In typical Samsung fashion, the event was held in a huge posh venue and had a giant LED as the stage backdrop. Orchestra members flanked the stage. The Galaxy Note 2 logo was displayed on the left side of the stage while the Galaxy Camera name was on the right side. There were over 40 tables of around 8-10 persons each so there could have easily been over 600+ people in attendance.

On the right side of the ballroom was a giant cordoned area with some sort of weird screen covering it. After Samsung PH executives introduced the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy Camera, a trio all-female singing group came out on stage and did a number. After their song, the barrier leading to the other room opened sidewards starting at the center revealing a secondary stage. Will let the photos speak for themselves.

After the formal reveal, reporters and bloggers went up the demo area and started playing with the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Camera. Here are a few more pictures for your appreciation.

SRP of the Galaxy Camera is Php23,990. The Galaxy Note II sells for around Php32,000.

PS: My only complaint regarding the event was that it started so late. Hopefully it can start earlier next time. 😀
