Samsung invited us to spend the night in Makati Shangri-La with their latest ultra HD TV, the Series 9 Curved UHD TV a few days ago. While there’s a lot of other UHD TVs in the market today, there’s only a few curved UHD models today.

The one that we reviewed was around 65-inches of pure awesome and had 4K resolution. For people who don’t know, that’s a resolution of 3840 x 1260, which gives you unmatched level of detail. Aside from the TV, Samsung also sent over a hard drive filled with UHD content so we could properly enjoy the 4K resolution.

While the screen of our review model, the HU9000 was huge at around 65-inches, it wasn’t really that thick. Because of the curve of the display, Samsung moved all the ports and connections into a seperate unit called the One Connect box. This means that the actual TV part of the HU9000 only had two wires coming into it – power and the cable from the One Connect box, allowing for easier cable management once you set it up in your home. Because the One Connect box can be placed anywhere, you no longer have to muck around behind the TV if you need to plug in a USB or a new HDMI cable, for example.

Like most of Samsung’s high-end TVs, the HU9000 is a Smart TV. That means you can download apps, play simple games and access additional content from the internet that expands your viewing options.

Aside from YouTube, there’s also a couple of other streaming apps that you can enjoy with the HU900.

Speaking of YouTube, one cool feature that we found is that you can actually pair your tablet, PC or smartphone with the TV so that you can search for videos on your mobile device and have it play on the UHD TV. It’s a great feature that saves you from typing each and every letter of the video or channel your looking for with the remote.

Since we’re on the subject of the remote control, the HU9000 has two remotes – one regular remote control and one that you could use as an on-screen mouse to control the TV, which is a godsend when you’re browsing websites. You can also pair your Bluetooth mouse and keyboard with the HU9000 for even easier browsing.

If you haven’t guessed by now, the HU9000 is going to cost you. Like, a lot. The 65-inch model goes for Php 299,900. A smaller, 55-inch variant cost a little bit less at Php 219,900. It should already be in stores nationwide.
