Samsung to Roll Out Android Pie Update Next Year

Galaxy users need to be extra patient

With brands like Huawei, Xiaomi, Sony, OnePlus, and HMD Global are rolling out at least a beta build of Android Pie to their phones, it will not be the same with Samsung.

In a report obtained by XDA Developers, Samsung is expected to release their Android Pie update early next year, in spite of leaks of Samsung Experience 10’s new features. Right now, there’s no official word about the beta program for any of Samsung’s phones—including the Galaxy S9+ and Galaxy Note 9.

Before you go complain at why Samsung is slow in rolling out updates, do remember that they have a heavily-skinned version of Android, and that it takes several processes before they can release a stable version. Since Samsung Experience has several features on top of the usual Android features, they have to check every nook and cranny for any errors—which can take a while—before they can seed a stable build to their customers.

Samsung’s slow update process is one of the reasons why people leave Android and switch to iOS. While Google has been making an effort to roll out updates as fast as possible, it is still up to these brands to step up and be committed to their customers.
