Samsung to Supply OLED Panels for the P30 Pro

Quality components over an intense smartphone rivalry

As Huawei is set to unveil the P30 family next week, new reports indicate that the Chinese brand has struck a deal with Samsung as the sole supplier of OLED panels for the P30 Pro and presumably the P30.

Factors that led to this decision on Huawei’s part include the overall quality of Samsung’s OLED panels and the company’s manpower to meet Huawei’s demands.

With the Mate 20 Pro, Huawei had LG and BOE supply the 2018 flagship phone’s OLED display. However, those that came with LG OLED panels experienced problems that affected the Mate 20 Pro’s sales.

Key features of the P30 Pro include a 6.47-inch OLED display, Kirin 980 processor, 32-megapixel front camera, and a quadruple rear camera setup consisting of a 40-megapixel f/1.6 main camera, 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, 8-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, and a Time of Flight (ToF) camera.
