The module might be used on the Galaxy Note 10
With Huawei’s P30 Pro and OPPO Reno 10x pushing the boundaries of smartphone photography with their periscope modules, Samsung is set to join the trend as well. Recently, Samsung Electro-Mechanics (SEM) announced that they have started mass production of their periscope module—which will presumably be used for the upcoming Galaxy Note 10.
The said module comes in at 5mm thick, which is thinner than previous Samsung camera modules. Using a rectangular lens and a light refracting prism, the module can deliver up to 5x optical zoom. To keep its thin profile, the module will be stacked vertically. Samsung showed sample shots in normal, 2x, and 5x zoom modes, demonstrating what their upcoming periscope module is capable of.
