The S6 Edge is selling slightly better even though it’s more expensive
We sat down with Samsung’s marketing team today to get caught up in all things Galaxy S6. During our short sit-down, Samsung’s product marketing manager Patricia Rodriguez talked about the performance of both flagships in the Philippine market. While they weren’t entirely forthcoming with specifics of the number of devices sold in the Philippines, they did say that the S6 and the S6 Edge are doing very well in the market and are meeting expectations, and is obviously doing better than the S5 during the same point last year.
Surprisingly, the S6 Edge which is a substantially more expensive version is outselling the cheaper, regular S6 by a small margin. We’re honestly not surprised, because the S6 Edge looks more like the flagship smartphone that Samsung originally intended – while the regular S6 is a great device on its own, it still looks like a regular ol’ smartphone.
Samsung also took the time to share their partnership with Marvel and the film Avengers: Age of Ultron. While they didn’t reveal anything new about the Iron Man edition of the S6, they did show us the plastic back cases made for the Avengers including the plastic films that ties into the films.
