Two tablets catering to two different audiences
Ahead of the launch of the Galaxy Note 9, Samsung formally unveiled two new tablets: the Galaxy Tab S4 and the Galaxy Tab A (2018).
The Galaxy Tab S4 boasts of flagship specs. Aside from what we know from early leaks, the Galaxy Tab S4 improves on Samsung’s DeX functionality: With a Snapdragon 835 processor, you can enable Desktop Mode even without placing it on a dock. A new feature on the Galaxy Tab S4 is that you can use two screens (the tablet’s 10.5-inch Super AMOLED screen and an external display) at the same time.
An AKG-tuned quad speaker setup takes care of the audio, with support for Dolby Atmos.
To keep everything running, the Galaxy Tab S4 has a 7300mAh battery—1300mAh bigger than the battery of the Galaxy Tab S3.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Galaxy Tab A (2018) is aimed towards kids and families as it comes with features such as kids mode, multi-user mode, and eight pre-loaded apps geared towards kids. While it inherits the Galaxy Tab S4’s AKG-tuned quad speaker setup and 7300mAh battery, the Galaxy Tab A (2018) comes with modest specs that consist of a Snapdragon 450 processor, a 10.5-inch TFT display, 3GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage.
Pricing for the new tablets are as follows:
Galaxy Tab A (2018) (32GB WiFi only) –Â $380 (~Php 20.2k)
Galaxy Tab A (2018) (32GB WiFi+LTE) – $450 (~Php 23.9k)
Galaxy Tab S4 (64GB WiFi + LTE) – $649.99 (~Php 34.5k)
Galaxy Tab S4 (256GB WiFi + LTE) – $749.99 (~Php 39.8k)
Both tablets will be available on August 24, the same day when the Galaxy Note 9 will be officially available.
