Samsung’s Processor For Note 9 Demolishes Competition In Benchmarks

Samsung’s next phone will be a BEAST

Samsung’s getting ready to unleash their Galaxy Note 9 in an event early next month, but the phone is slowly getting unmasked ahead of time thanks to a number of leaks. The latest one is apparently a benchmark of the retail unit, with a model name of SM-N960X.

The phone’s Geekbench benchmarks are pretty impressive, clocking in at 12246 in the multi-core test and 4089 in single core. The current top-ranked Android phone, the Galaxy S9 Plus, sits at a score of 8679 and 3372 respectively.

There’s a little bit of confusion in the benchmark though, as Geekbench identifies the chipset as the Exynos 9820 processor. It seems a little fishy that Samsung would opt to use their next generation chipset ahead of schedule – the Exynos 9810 is still pretty new, and the Note series typically uses the same hardware as the one present in the Galaxy S released a few months earlier.

If the benchmark turns out to be legit, it may signify a shift in how Samsung equips and powers its flagship Note series.
