We’re all waiting for Samsung to announce their next flagship device to make up for the disastrous Galaxy Note 7. We all expect Samsung’s next flagship to be the Galaxy S8, but an email from the company’s local PR arm point to another device that’s soon to launch in our shores.
In an email sent to Unbox earlier, the company hints that the next flagship from the Korean brand is set to pack up to 256GB of storage, have a front facing, 16-megapixel front camera as well as a USB Type-C port, fast charging and a long-lasting battery. The email also mentioned IP68, but it’s not clear if the phone will have that particular feature as well.
Since the Galaxy S8 is scheduled to debut at the end of Febraury during MWC in Barcelona Spain, and given the January timeline hinted by Samsung for their new “flagship” smartphone, we can only summize that the phone being teased is another flagship (or flagship-esque) device aside from the S8. The only thing we can think of off the top of our heads that have some of the features teased is the Galaxy C9 Pro which was first announced in China.
The C9 Pro sports a large 6-inch, full HD Super AMOLED display, 64GB of storage that can be expanded to 256GB via microSD card, has a 16-megapixel, f/1.9 aperture front camera, USB Type-C connectivity and 6GB of RAM, the first for the brand.
