SELFIE WARS: ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie and Selfie Pro to Clash with Vivo and OPPO

The New ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro

Selfie Wars Will Escalate

OPPO was able to grab massive market share locally, especially when they went all-in on the “Selfie Expert” proposition. VIVO launched their own offensive bannering Stephen Curry as their endorser while saying you can take the “Perfect Selfie” with their smartphone. In a few weeks we’ll have another contender. The new selfie-focused smartphones of ASUS were recently leaked and it looks like it will be an epic selfie battle between ASUS, VIVO, and OPPO here in the Philippines in the coming months.

ASUS will be releasing two selfie-focused smartphones in their Zenfone 4 line-up, the Selfie and Selfie Pro. The Selfie will have a Snapdragon 430 processor paired with 4GB of RAM internally and it will have dual selfie cameras (20MP, 8MP). The Selfie Pro is more powerful with a Qualcomm 625 processor and better dual selfie cameras (24MP, 5MP). Full spec sheet of both devices below.

On paper both devices have great specifications but how about pricing? If we will directly convert from the leak, the Selfie will sell for around Php16,500-Php17,500 while the Selfie Pro will go for Php23,500-Php24,500. That definitely puts both devices at a premium compared to the current offerings of OPPO and Vivo (most of which are in the Php15,000 and below range). ASUS has the challenge of making their pricing as competitive as possible so that they can win back the market share that they lost after the Zenfone 3 launch.
