Sharp’s Aquos R2 has an Unconventional Dual Rear Camera Setup

Along with flagship-grade hardware to boot

While Sharp has been low key when it comes to phone releases lately, the Aquos R2 is something worth talking about. From the internals, the Aquos R2 packs a punch with a Snapdragon 845 processor paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. As for the display, it sports a 6-inch High-Speed IGZO display with a WQHD+ resolution and a tiny notch on top that looks similar to the one found on the Aquos S2.

Things get really interesting when it comes to the camera department: Aside from the 16.3-megapixel wide-angle front camera, the Aquos R2 comes with an unconventional dual rear camera setup: The primary camera has 22.6-megapixels and is used primarily for photos. On the other hand, the secondary camera is a 16.3-megapixel sensor that is used exclusively for video.

The secondary camera comes with an interesting set of features: Aside from being able to shoot in 4K2K resolution (3,840 × 2, 160), the secondary camera sports an ultra-wide angle dramatic mode, movie stabilization, and AI live shutter. In case you are curious at what the video-centric secondary rear camera can do, here’s a sample video:

Other features include Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, IPX5/IPX8/IP6X, Android Oreo, and a 3180mAh battery. Judging from the site, the Aquos R2 is exclusive to Japan.
