Faster mobile internet is coming!

Smart has announced that they have switched on their LTE-A, or LTE Advanced tech on its LTE network in its Jump Center located at SM Megamall. LTE-A, referred to as ā€˜5Gā€™ by reports on leading global mobile operators AT&T and T-Mobile, delivers data from between 100 megabits per second (mbps) to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps), or ten times faster than 3G services and more than twice as fast as 4G services.

Initial speed tests done by Smart show promising download speeds, as you can see in the photo above. Smart’s initiation of LTE-A means that smartphones that have the technology (like the improved Galaxy S5 LTE-A) theoretically can now work on Smart’s network, although like the first rollout of LTE they’ll probably turn it on slowly and in select areas of the metro.
