Premium Android-based Walkman by Sony

The Sony Walkman NW-ZX2 was originally announced earlier this year in Las Vegas during the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 (CES 2015). It’s an Android 4.2 Jelly Bean based portable machine that’s chockfull of audio features having the ultimate goal to have listeners get closer to the spirit and intent of the original performance of the artist that they’re listening to.

In short, this is one of the most high-tech and bad ass music players you can have. It’s audiophile/professional-grade level and it’s definitely not for everyone as it retails for a whopping Php52,999.

What makes it so… expensive? We’ll try to stay away from being too technical so that you guys get a better appreciation of the features that this bad boy has.

  • Sony LDAC (low latency codec) Technology: Let’s users stream hi-fidelity music via Bluetooth. It literally transfers 3x more data versus other Bluetooth players.
  • S-Master HX Digital Amplifier: Reduces distortion and noise of audio files so that you get a clearer and more pristine acoustic experience.
  • DSEE HX Technology: This “upgrades” or “upscales” your MP3 and other compressed music files so that you get over-all better sound quality.
  • Versatile Player: It can play MP3, WMA< AAC, FLAC, AIFF, WAVE, ALAC, and DSD audio files.
  • 128GB Internal Storage: While this sounds huge believe us when we say that you’ll fill this up quickly if you use high resolution audio files and not just your usual MP3s. In case you find the 128GB lacking, it also has microSD card support.
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean: You have access to the Google Play Store! Yep, you can download apps on this one. Though we don’t recommend that you try playing graphics intensive games like Marvel Future Fight on it, hehe. It’s simply not made for that.

Apart from all of those tech, the device also looks gorgeous. It has rounded sides carved out of aluminium alloy giving it a very luxurious feel.

If you’re thinking of getting one, we suggest that you give this a listen first so you experience the hi-resolution audio capabilities of the device yourselves. They have demo units available at the Sony Concept Store in Alabang, SM Megamall, and Glorietta.
