Sony Wants to Roll Out Android 7.1.1 Ahead of the Pack

We all know that the Google Pixel and Pixel XL will be the first smartphones to recieve the Android 7.1.1 update, but it’s pretty much anyone’s game after that.  Sony has laid down the gauntlet and has set their sights on being the first third-party brand to release the update to their Xperia line of smartphones. They’ve already received the source code for the update but are still waiting of a couple things,  such as: the applications suite and compatibility test suite,  from Google.

They seem to be taking this race extremely seriously and our source has even managed to get a quote from the Japanese brand’s Xperia Development Team who said:

If you spot any vendor (excluding Google) releasing this faster than us,  prepare your rotten tomatoes!

What do you guys think? Should we start warming up the guns for a tomato pelting at Sony’s expense?
