If you are an Xperia fan, one thing Sony does right is that they have compact-sized phones that offer flagship features. After hitting pause on the Xperia Compact line, Sony brought back the idea of a compact flagship with the Xperia 5 last year. With the Xperia 1 now having a Mark II and a new variant with 12GB RAM, the Xperia 5 is getting the Mark II treatment as well.
Confirmed for a September 17 launch, the Xperia 5 II will have the same compact 6.1-inch OLED display but with a 120 Hz refresh rate, and 240 Hz touch sampling rate. For the cameras, you get a Zeiss-branded triple camera setup. While they are all 12-megapixel shooters, the telephoto camera now gets a better 3x optical zoom feature.
The Xperia 5 II will get a bigger 4000mAh battery with USB-PD charging while bringing back the 3.5mm headphone jack to the joy of many. As for the processing package, the Xperia 5 II will have a Snapdragon 865 processor paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
We will wait until September 17 to know more details about Sony’s compact flagship phone.
