Sony Mobile Philippines announced the official launch of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra Friday afternoon in an event in Makati City. The hulking 6.4-inch phablet comes in 3G only and it will retail for Php31,790. The LTE variant will be available sometime in October. If you really can’t wait for it then by all means go ahead and buy. However if you can wait it out we suggest you just go for the LTE model especially since Smart just rolled out their prepaid LTE service.

For cash you can get it at Php31,790 but there’s also a 0% for 6 months option which costs Php33,490. Wait that sounded wrong. How can it be 0% interest when it’s more expensive than the cash price? Isn’t the difference the actual interest? Anyway, other than the Ultra Z, Sony Mobile PH also unveiled the mid-range Sony Xperia M for Php10,490. It’s a dual-core, 1GB RAM, 4-inch smartphone that looks a lot like the Xperia ZR. The dual-SIM version will come sometime late October for Php10,990.
