Sony’s Next Compact Camera is an RX100 for Vloggers

It has a hot shoe and a flip screen

Sony is set to launch a new compact camera in the next few days after it has teased it on its UK website. The camera in question appears to look like an RX100 VII, except that it has a large red light indicating that it is recording video, along with a flip screen.

Ahead of its official unveiling, Nokishita shared on Twitter official renders of the camera, which will be known as the ZV-1.

The vlogging-focused compact camera has a similar form factor with the RX100, but adds a hot shoe and a 3-inch flip screen removes the built-in flash. You get a large record button on top of the camera, along with a directional 3-capsule microphone with an optional deadcat add-on.

Like the RX100 VII, the ZV-1 uses a 1-inch 20.1-megapixel sensor with real-time Eye AF but comes with a 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 equivalent lens. Some of its unique features include face-priority autoexposure and a “bokeh switch” that lets you create a blurred background effect.

Sony will reveal more about the ZV-1 on May 26.
