Specs Matchup: Cherry Mobile Cosmos One Plus VS. Starmobile Knight X

We put these two local flagships head-to-head

Today Cherry Mobile released their Cosmos One Plus, their most advanced flagship yet. The company is the second local brand to release an octa-core, LTE equipped smartphone, with the first being Starmobile’s Knight X. Today we’ll be comparing the specs of both devices and see how they stack up to one another.

Starmobille Knight X 10

Looking at the spec sheet, both devices are pretty evenly matched in many fronts. Before we talk about the differences, let’s take a look at the similarities for both devices: both have a 5.5-inch full HD panel, protected by scratch resistant glass (more on this later), powered by MediaTek’s MT6595M octa-core processor, have 3GB of RAM, have 32GB of storage and are both dual-SIM, dual LTE.

Now, on to the differences: the Cosmos One Plus’ display is protected by Gorilla Glass 2, while the Starmobile Knight X only has scratch resistant glass. While both devices have 32GB of storage, the one in the Cosmos One Plus is expandable while the one in the Knight X is not. Both have different camera modules as well: the Knight X has a 13-megapixel Sony RS IMX135 camera, AF, F2.2 aperture paired witha  5-megapixel front facing cam while the Cosmos One Plus has a 14-megapixel rear camera, Sony IMX 214 sensor with BSI paired with an 8-megapixel camera. The Knight X has a leg up in terms of battery, sporting a 3350mAh battery compared to the Cosmos One Plus’ 2700mAh. The key difference here is that the Cosmos One Plus has a removable battery, while the Knight X does not. Finally, there’s rumors that the Cosmos One Plus is upgradable to Lollipop, though we haven’t confirmed it yet while Starmobile has not given us a heads up whether or not the Knight X will get an OS update down the line.

Let’s talk about price: the Knight X retails for Php 15,990, and while we haven’t pegged the official price of the Cosmos One Plus as of yet, it’s rumored to go as low as Php 13,990. That’s a big price difference, and may well be Cherry Mobile’s weapon against its local rival.

  1. Thanks for the comparison. Could have been better presented though, if you used a spreadsheets and put the specs side by side.

    1. Noted, we’ll be doing another one once both devices come into our HQ. We’ll be doing side by side and profile shots of both. Thanks for the suggestion.

  2. I wanted to try the HotKnot tech, too bad only one of these phones and some oppo mediatek phones can use HotKnot here… it’s basically ghetto NFC

  3. I am not a hater// basher of cherry mobile Products – In fact, I’ve been using their product for 3 years – I had an Omega HD 2.0. and I’ve purchased 2 other phones for my brother and sister,
I recommended it as well to my GF and she purchased an Apollo.. I’m always depending Pinoy Phone companies from Bashers.. But I would just like to share what happened recently…
I decided to purchase a tablet for my GF as a gift.. so I purchased the CM Navigator.. I did an extensive review on the device(taragis, technobaboy etc..) and it seems like a really good deal..
But after just 4 days of buying it.. the auto rotate function isn’t working anymore, the touch screen started acting out and the ( VC) voice calling video (front cam) is not showing on the
Tablet. Its still under the 7 days replacement warranty so we brought it back to the store where we purchased it on the last day of the warranty and I swear the tablet is in brand new state
( no scratches or bumps.. Hell, its just 7 days old !!! ) what happened is that there are 2 attendants there.. 1st attendant checked the tablet and did the factory reset ( 2x).. after checking it, she
said that it is definitely for replacement.. she then asked her colleague to check it so 2nd attendant looked at the tablet as well.. she removed the sim and the micro sd out.. I did not know what
happened but after the 2nd attendant checked the tablet.. she suddenly said that the camera lens cap is missing.. the 1st attendant then said that they can’t replace it anymore since there is a
missing part!!! The weird part is they didn’t even bother to look for it and they don’t really seemed surprise!!! I mean, is it that easy for their devices to lose the lens cap?!!! They said that I
should just bring the device on the service center (after just 7 days!!!) !!!After having a long discussion and debate w/ them.. My GF just gave up and decided to bring the tablet to the service
center.. you know what happened?.. She was advised to leave the tablet and provided and turnaround time of 2 WEEKS to 1 MONTH!!! And for the lens cap.. 2 WEEKS as well!!! WTF!!!
Everything that happened is so frustrating… So, for you guys who might encounter the same issue.. a piece of advise.. when you bring your gadget for a repalcement to a CHERRY MOBILE
STORE.. don’t let it out of your sight!!! Have them inspect the gadget in front of you!! Or take a pict of the device before you have them check it.. I really believe that we were conned..
But it’s their KARMA not ours.. Just giving you guys some heads up.. this could really be a new SCAM… I would really like to hear from you guys.. whats your take on this?..

    1. congrats. may matitino namang pinoy brand such as myphone at sm. I’ll go for SM sa comparison sa taas kahit lugi ng konte sa specs. maganda build

  4. Can you make a flagship comparison of Asus Zenfone 2, One Plus One, Meizu Mx4, Xiamio Mi4 and Redmi Note 2, Starmibile Knight X, Cherrymobile Cosmos+, Sony Xperia Z4 and Samsung S5 and Note 4.

  5. Can you make a flagship comparison of Asus Zenfone 2, One Plus One, Meizu Mx4, Xiaomi Mi4 and Redmi Note 2, Starmobile Knight X, Cherrymobile Cosmos+, Sony Xperia Z4 and Samsung S5 and Note 4.

  6. If we could compare the pictures taken by both devices sana…..don n lang siguro mag kakatalo…….specially startmobile has a reputation when it comes to the cam of their devices…….

  7. It’s no competition brcause the KNIGHT X is not yet available in the local market. Starmobile is just imagining things

  8. Ano ang application for ir. Bought 1 but unable to use it. Can even test if this feature is function or not.

  9. Star Mobile Service is consistently bad. And the quality of the knight x is bad. Had 7″ tablet, sub charging port went bad. Sent for repair. Got it back 3 months later. Worked for a day, the. Broke. Had a star mobile knight 1. Ear piece stopped working. Sent for repair, took two months, worked for a day. Next day, broken again. Was stupid and got yet another star mobile, the night x. After two weeks, wifi stopped working. Would work for a few mins, then it would require rebooting multiple times to work again. And only worked for a few mins. Since it was new, I went to the store of purchase and asked for an exchange. I was told the exchange would have to be done by star mobile. Sent to star mobile. What repairs were done? Replace power button. What? There was nothing wrong with the power button. Next day, guess what? If you guessed stop working, you are correct. And since the device was “repaired”, I’m being told it can’t be exchanged or refunded. Seems they replaced the power button just to prevent me from getting an exchange or refund. How unethical. Worst of the pinoy cell phone companies. Avoid them dengue. No matter how appealing the specs. The IR blaster was worthless too. Tried all the remote apps in Google play and non worked. Battery drained fast and was super matagal to charge. 6 hours plus from empty to full.
