TCL’s 3S Is Another Bang For The Bang Buck Phone Under 7K

Another potential best seller right here

International brands like Alcatel and Lenovo are doing brisk business in the Philippines selling their bang for the buck phones like the Flash Plus and the A7000. As the weeks and months go by, more and more players, both local and international are joining the fray in the very hotly contested under 10K market.

TCL 3S specs

  • 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor
  • Adreno 405 GPU
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 5-inch full HD display, OGS full lamination, 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • 16GB of storage, expandable via microSD
  • 13-megapixel rear camera, f/2.2 aperture
  • 8-megapixel front camera, f/2.2 aperture, 88 degree wide angle lens
  • Dual SIM
  • 3G, LTE
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop
  • 3050mAh battery

TCL, Alcatel’s parent company, may just have another great phone to bring under the Alcatel brand. The TCL 3S brings a Snapdragon 615 processor to the mix instead of a MediaTek one, and has a 5-inch full HD display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 13-megapixel rear camera at just 140$, or Php 6318.

If you haven’t noticed, this is the same specs that Xiaomi’s global flagship, the Mi 4i is offering, though at a higher expected price of around Php 9,900 in Taiwan.

  1. Snapdragon? Pass.

So they are dropping the Alcatel name for this model? Considering northeast Asians are unbeatable when it comes to electronic wizardry it boggles the mind as to why would anyone pay to use the unpopular name of an inferior French company.

      1. NO It’s not always the case wherein Snapdragon’s is faster than Mediatek’s, the next na sasabihin mo yan be specific of what type of soc you are pointing out.

        Smh -.-

      2. nope!. sa low to midrange or even high end or flagship, mtk ang panalo.. khit tignan sa benchmarks ang single core ng mtk mas mataas kesa SD. lalo na abangan mo ung bagong soc ng mtk na helios X10 khit sd805 at 808 wlang laban

    1. @Zobel: lolz you don’t know what you are talking about 😛 TCL brand unpopular? In 2010 it was the world’s 25th-largest consumer electronics producer. In 2013, it was third-largest television producer by market share. know things muna before you run your mouth wild 😛 porke’t Alcatel lang ang alam mo dahil yun ang nausong safeguard phone noon eh gumaganyan ka na~

@vhin : Snapdragon SoCs are good indeed. pero SD615 also poses the same problem the SD810 is facing, which is prone to heating too much. Kasi naman kinutya ng Qualcomm yung Mediatek dahil sa octacore SoCs, so here they are now, na karma sa octacore SoCs nila.

        1. funny how people base their views on what they just see in their immediate vicinity. you would be surprised how wrong you are the moment you step outside your living room.

  2. Qualcomm! Thats a tempting buy right there, solid specs. I just hope it remains below 7K when (or if) it reaches our shores..

      1. IF xiaomi sold them here. i’m afraid by the time they do we’d have even better options available. just look at the redmi 2, nilalangaw dahil too little too late.

    1. what’s the deal with less megapixel? more megapixels doesn’t mean better quality dapat basic knowledge na yan.

    1. Yeah, good luck sa pag-apula ng init LOL
well documented din ang overheating woes ng Snapdragon 615, If I were you, I’d simply avoid these Snapdragon SoCs right now (except for the 808).

    2. you should not generalize the brand bro, Qualcomm has been producing great SoCs but don’t be ignorant, madami na feedbacks and reviews about SD615 having the same problem with its big bro SD810, yet you have the audacity to say mediatek is unstable lol.

    3. Don’t knock it before you try it. Besides, nakipag-break na ang Samsung, LG at Huawei with your beloved dragon.

  3. The question is, will this device be available here in PH? If not, then this post is just another “paasa” article to us filipino consumers and unbox subscribers. Next time, please consider mentioning or at least knowing which seller/store will release this product here.

    Just a concerned subscriber/follower 🙂

  4. nope!. sa low to midrange or even high end or flagship, mtk ang panalo.. khit tignan sa benchmarks ang single core ng mtk mas mataas kesa SD. lalo na abangan mo ung bagong soc ng mtk na helios X10 khit sd805 at 808 wlang laban

  5. Don’t buy phones with SD615/SD810 cause they suck! If you want a Qualcomm go buy SD800/801 instead. Or wait for the review of the future SD820. As of today, the new Octacores from Qualcomm suck so bad due to degrading of performance from overheating issues. If you want octacores, go buy phones with the new MTK (MT67xx), Samsung Exynos or Huwawei Hi silicon chips. Still want Qualcomm? Just wait for the next models (fixed models) to come.
