The First 512GB microSD Drops In February

The First 512GB microSD Drops In February

Don’t expect it to be cheap

Every year the space that relatively tiny microSD cards can cram into their bodies grow exponentially. Last year SanDisk managed to cram 400GB into theirs, and this year UK’s Integral Memory has announced what they say is the first shipping 512GB microSD card.

That’s right – half a terabyte in a relatively small package that you can shove into your phone or better yet, 4K-capable capture device like a camera or drone. As long as your device can handle microSDXC, it’ll handle Integral Memory’s new baby.

The transfer speeds aren’t too fast at just 80MB/s but it’s enough for 4K recording purposes. It won’t be cheap though – SanDisk’s own 400GB offering is still pretty expensive, and while there’s no pricing for this one yet, expect it to be pricier by a good amount.
