Workstation-class computing power
Apple’s new iMacs aren’t powerful enough for you? Well, just wait till the end of the year when the company officially offers the iMac Pro for sale. This thing is pretty insane, and was built by Apple to fulfill the need of some of its customers for workstation-class hardware inside classy, iconic enclosure.
Aside from shipping in a very swanky-looking Space Grey color scheme, the new iMac will sport insane hardware on the inside – up to 18-core Xeon processors and AMD’s new Radeon Pro Vega Graphics capable of 11 Teraflpps of single precision processing power. There’s also 4TB of SSD storage available in the highest configuration, along with 4 Thunderbolt ports that can support separate 4K displays. The iMac Pro still has that 27-inch Retina 5K display of its lower specc’d brother.
This insane machine isn’t for regular Joes though – Apple is targeting professionals that routinely edit graphics, creat VR environments and so on – basically anybody who needs a really, really powerful machine for work. The iMac Pro is slated to be released in December of this year, with a starting price of $4,999.
