The Redmi Note 9 Pro Series is the Spiritual Successor of the Mi Max Series

The biggest screen on a Redmi phone ever

Redmi unveiled the latest Redmi Note phone in an online-only event in India with the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. The latest mid-range phone from Redmi has a revamped design, this time with a punch-hole on its large 6.67-inch, 20:9 display and a centrally-placed square camera module housing four rear cameras. The large screen points to the Redmi Note 9 Pro as the spiritual successor to Xiaomi’s Mi Max line, which was discontinued last year.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max’s four rear cameras are identical with the Redmi Note 8 Pro‘s camera setup save for the upgraded 5-megapixel macro camera and updated image processing algorithm for the ultra-wide-angle camera. The Redmi Note 9 Pro has the same quad-rear camera setup but swaps the Pro Max’s 64-megapixel main camera for a 48-megapixel ISOCELL GM2 main camera.

For the internals, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is the first in the Redmi series to use a Snapdragon 700 series processor—specifically the recently-announced Snapdragon 720G. While it has roughly the same thickness as the Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi managed to cram in a bigger 5020mAh battery in the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. While the Redmi Note 9 Pro comes with regular 18w charging, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max gets a faster 33w wired charging, with the required charger included in the box.
