Water resistance is king!
Don’t let today’s hot and humid weather fool you – we’ve already officially entered the rainy season, and with that you can expect unexpected, monsoon level rains. While many of us are pretty good at keeping our phones high and dry from mother nature, there’s still a bunch of us that can’t really keep our phones away from H2O.
The phones on this list are resistant to being dunked in water, and some can even survive prolonged exposure. Even if you think you don’t need a water-resistant phone, all it takes is an accidental dunk in the toilet (ewww) for you to become a believer.
1. Motorola Moto X4
This mid-range phone from Motorola isn’t just water-resistant – it’s a visually striking as well. While its higher price tag compared to similarly-spec’d devices may be a little steep, that extra water resistance is going to come in handy when it’s wet out.
2. Samsung Galaxy Note 8
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is a generation behind by the time this article comes out, but that doesn’t mean it’s not an excellent phone by today’s standard. It has a massive display, intuitive S-Pen, and if you know how to look, a lower SRP nowadays compared to its initial launch.

3. Huawei Mate 10 Pro
Speaking of flagships that have lower SRPs, Huawei’s Mate 10 Pro is also a great buy today if you’re looking for a water-resistant phone. With a current SRP of Php 36,990, it’s pretty cheap as far as flagships from the Chinese company go.
4. Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus
These two phones are currently the top dogs of Korean manufacturer Samsung, and aside from possessing great screens and awesome cameras, both are also fully water-resistant (IP68), which means they can stand up to being dunked in water up to 5 feet up to 30 minutes.
5. Huawei P20 Pro
Huawei’s latest flagship gets the same water-resistant treatment as the Mate 10 Pro, possesing an IP rating of IP67. It can theoretically take a quick dunk in water, but for the love of god don’t leave it lying there or it’ll get gunked up with water. Unfortunately, the P20 only has an IP53 rating, which means it’s only splash-resistant.

6. LG G7 ThinQ
LG’s flagships also get the water-resistant treatment, and if you’re not a fan of their domestic rival, the water-resistant phone may be for you. The phone can withstand being submerged for 30 minutes as deep as 5 meters of water, and the phone is now available in the market to buy.

7. Sony Xperia XZ1
The Sony Xperia XZ1 may be getting a little long in the tooth, but it’s still a pretty powerful flagship by today’s standards. Prices have gone down since the company’s unveil of the device more than six months ago, which means you can still get this water-resistant phone for not much money.
8. Sony Xperia XZ2
Sony’s Xperia line was one of the pioneers in the whole “phones you can dunk in water” trend, so it’s not surprising that the company’s flagship phone has an IP68 rating, one of the highest in the industry. The XZ2 is a throughbred, sporting an 18:9 5.7-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a Dynamic Vibration feature.
9. Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
Apple’s lower-priced flagships don’t get as much exposure as their top-end brother, but that doesn’t mean they’re any less water resistant. The two phones are cheaper too, so you don’t have to spend top peso on them compared to the iPhone X.

10. Apple iPhone X
The OG notch-equipped phone is Apple’s top-tier flagship, and while it’s soon to be replaced by a newer version in the next few months, it’s THE gold standard for Apple fans nowadays. It’s still crazy expensive compared to other Android phones, but you’re getting an IP67 rated phone that’ll survive the harshest monsoon rain with nary a scratch.
